What have we been up to?
As a result of Coronavirus, Local Mencap are looking at new ways of keeping in touch with you and helping wherever we can. We will be in touch with news of some of our new ideas shortly.
We have also seen a huge demand for food for a lot of hungry vulnerable and homeless people in the local community.
As a charity, we are lucky to receive daily food donations thanks to our wonderful relationship with local shops and supermarkets. Our plan is to hand out parcels of this food and other essential supplies to not only people who are vulnerable and homeless but also desperate families being referred daily from local schools.
Our aims are:
- to keep in touch and support you however we can
- to stop people going hungry
- to help you return safely to our community at Compass House when lock-down is over
How can you help?
We have launched a Local Mencap Barnsley Crowd Funding page to raise urgent funds to distribute food parcels and to provide help for you, our members, when we return following lock-down.
